Life After the Academy

Playing lacrosse at the Air Force Academy means preparing to lead both on the field and in service to the nation. Upon graduation, cadets commission as Second Lieutenants in the United States Air Force or Space Force and enter careers defined by their Air Force Specialty Code (AFSC)

 

AFSCs cover a wide range of mission areas including pilot training, combat systems officers, intelligence, cyber operations, developmental engineering, space operations, acquisitions, logistics, and medical service. Selection for an AFSC is based on a combination of cadet performance, leadership evaluations, academic major, physical fitness, and the needs of the Air Force or Space Force. Many graduates also pursue advanced education, such as graduate school. 

 

For Air Force Lacrosse players, the discipline, teamwork, and resilience developed on the field translate directly to success in these officer career fields. Whether leading aircrews, managing advanced technology programs, operating in space or cyber domains, or supporting global operations, graduates carry the competitive mindset and leadership skills built through the program into their military careers.

 

Beyond active duty assignments, graduates join the Long Blue Line the global network of United States Air Force Academy alumni who continue to lead and serve across military, government, and civilian sectors. Through organizations like the Air Force Academy Association of Graduates (AOG), graduates gain access to mentorship, professional opportunities, and lifelong connections. The leadership foundation built through rigorous academics, immersive summer programs, and the Air Force Lacrosse brotherhood creates opportunities that extend well beyond graduation.
